Legal
Terms of Service.
What you can expect from us, and what we need from you — covering both this website and the childcare agreement itself.
These terms cover two things: your use of this website, and the childcare agreement between your family and Ideal Daycare Centre Ltd.. They are written to be read rather than to be impressive, and if anything here is unclear we would rather you asked than guessed.
Who we are
Ideal Daycare Centre Ltd. operates a licensed childcare centre at 6013 Millwoods Road South, Millhurst Shopping Centre, Edmonton, AB T6L 5X9. We are licensed by the Government of Alberta and operate under the Early Learning and Child Care Act and its regulations.
You can reach us on (780) 450-1568, by email at idealdaycareedmonton@gmail.com, or in person during opening hours.
Using this website
You may use this site to learn about our programs, submit an enquiry, complete a registration, and contact us. In return we ask that you do not:
- Submit false or misleading information, particularly in an enquiry or registration
- Attempt to access the staff portal or any non-public part of this site
- Use automated tools to scrape, overload, or probe the site
- Reuse our text, photographs, or brand for commercial purposes without permission
The content of this site — text, photographs, layout, and the Ideal Daycare name and marks — belongs to us or is used with permission. Photographs of children are used with parental consent and may not be copied or redistributed.
Enquiries and registration are not a guaranteed space
Submitting an enquiry or a registration form through this site does not create a childcare contract and does not reserve a space for your child.
A space is confirmed only when all of the following have happened:
- We have confirmed availability to you directly, in writing or by phone
- A completed registration package is on file
- The registration fee has been paid
Until then, we may enrol another family into the space you are discussing. We will always tell you where you stand honestly, including when the honest answer is a waitlist.
Fees
Fees are set out in your registration package and summarised here:
- Registration fee: $100.00, non-refundable
- Fees are due: the first day of each month
- Late payment: $20.00 after the 10th of the month
- Late pickup: $10.00 for the first 15 minutes, plus $15.00 for the second 15 minutes, per child
- Returned cheque: $25.00, and certified cheques required thereafter
There is no fee reduction for statutory holidays, illness, or absence. Your child's space, room, and staffing are held for you whether or not they attend, which is why this is standard practice across licensed centres in Alberta.
Three or more late pickups may result in discontinuation of care. If you are running late, call us — an arrangement made by phone is always better than an unexplained absence at 6:10 PM.
Subsidy
We accept Alberta childcare subsidy. A valid authorisation number is due on the first of each month. If a number is not available, that month is invoiced to you in full and we issue a refund once the subsidy payment is received.
Renewals should be submitted at least one month before the current authorisation expires. We will remind you where we can, but the responsibility for renewing sits with you.
Adjustment period and ending care
The first 2 weeks of care are an adjustment period. Either you or we may end the arrangement during that time without notice, and you pay only for the days your child attended.
We will tell you during the adjustment period if your child appears unhappy or if we do not think the arrangement is working. That conversation is not a judgement about your child.
After the adjustment period, any change to or termination of the childcare agreement requires 30 days written notice, and fees are payable for that notice period.
We reserve the right to end care without notice where a child or family is disruptive to the safe operation of the centre. This is rare and we will always attempt a conversation first.
Health, illness, and emergencies
Children who are unwell cannot remain at the centre. Where a child develops symptoms during the day we will contact you or an emergency contact and ask that they be collected. You are responsible for having an alternative care arrangement available.
In the event of illness or accident we will notify you or your emergency contact. Staff may administer first aid, and depending on the severity of the situation your child may be taken to a doctor or hospital by staff vehicle, daycare vehicle, ambulance, or taxi. Costs incurred are the parent's responsibility.
Full illness thresholds are set out in your registration package and summarised in our FAQ.
Collection of children
We will release a child only to a parent, guardian, or a person named on the authorised pickup list. If we do not recognise the person collecting, or they are not on the list, your child will not be released until we have reached you.
We will not release a child to anyone who appears intoxicated or otherwise unable to provide safe care, and we will contact local authorities where necessary. The safety of children is not negotiable.
Please keep your authorised pickup list current. Adding a name takes a minute at the front desk and prevents a difficult scene at the door.
Transport and off-site activities
With your consent, children take part in spontaneous walking trips to nearby parks and green space around Millhurst Plaza. Trips further afield are notified in advance and require a signed permission slip; a child without a signed slip cannot attend.
School-age children are walked or transported to and from school. Once a child is on school premises they are in the care of the school, not Ideal Daycare.
Personal property
We cannot accept responsibility for lost, damaged, or stolen personal items. Found items go into the lost and found box, and unclaimed contents are donated to the Salvation Army every two months.
Please label everything, and please do not send money, valuables, or toys from home.
Limits on our liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot be limited by Alberta law.
Subject to that, our liability to you in connection with this website is limited to what is reasonable and foreseeable. Information on this site is provided in good faith and for general guidance; it is not medical, legal, or developmental advice, and it is not a substitute for talking to your doctor or to us directly.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Where a change materially affects your childcare agreement — fees, notice periods, or policies — we will notify enrolled families directly rather than relying on a website update.
The effective date at the top of this page shows when this version took effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the applicable laws of Canada. Any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of Alberta.
