Summer Program
Summer Program All ages
Summer at Ideal is deliberately different from the school year. Themed weeks, walking trips to the park and the library, water play in the courtyard, science and art projects, and enough unstructured outdoor time that children come home tired. Registration opens in the spring and the popular weeks fill quickly.

What we focus on
Inside Summer Program
— what we actually do.
The handful of things this room is genuinely built around, rather than a list of everything a daycare could possibly claim.
A different theme every week
Space, dinosaurs, oceans, community helpers, art studio, and science lab weeks — each with its own books, projects, and outings.
Out of the building
Walking trips to Sakaw Park, St. Richard Park, and the library, plus ETS or daycare van outings further afield. Permission slips go home well in advance.
Water play in the courtyard
Sprinklers, water tables, and splash games on hot days. Send a swimsuit, towel, and labelled water shoes.
Real outdoor hours
Two long outdoor blocks every day when the weather allows, with shade, sunscreen, and water breaks built in.
Making things that last
Longer art and building projects that carry across a whole week instead of a single afternoon.
Mixed ages, on purpose
Older children lead activities for younger ones during parts of the day. It is good for both of them.
A day in the life
What their day
actually looks like.
A real schedule, in order. Times flex around the children rather than the other way round.

I recently visited this daycare. The daycare was well organized and clean, I was very impressed with staff and management team. They have developmentally appropriate programs and curriculum is showing towards empowering the children.
Very happy with the quality of the daycare! The staff are very friendly, professional and respecting covid guidelines. I feel this is a very good place to educate and prepare a toddler for kindergarten. Highly recommended.
Excellent and professional daycare! My children were never sick, bruised up or in need of dentists here. Children were cared for properly and staff showed respect to children and parents.

Summer Program questions
What families ask
about this program.
If your question is not here, call the centre — you will speak to someone who knows this room.
Cannot find your question?
Call the centre and speak to a person who actually knows the rooms and what is available.
When does summer registration open?
In the spring, usually March or April. Existing families get first access, then remaining spaces open up. Popular weeks fill quickly.
Are field trips included in the fee?
Walking trips are included. Occasional outings carry an additional fee, communicated ahead of time. Cheques are made out to Ideal Daycare, and a signed permission slip must be returned before departure.
Can we register for individual weeks?
Ask us. Availability depends on the age group and how much of the summer is already booked, but we will always tell you what is genuinely open.
What should my child bring in summer?
A sun hat, labelled water bottle, sunscreen, a swimsuit and towel for water-play days, water shoes, and a full change of clothes. Label everything.
What comes next
Families usually look at
these too.
Children move up through our rooms as they grow, and many attend more than one program at once.
