Ideal Daycare Centre Ltd. has cared for Mill Woods families for 30+ years. We are not a chain and there is no head office — just one licensed centre in Millhurst Shopping Centre, run by people you will meet on your first visit.
Our story
One centre,
one community, one standard.
Ideal Daycare has been part of Mill Woods for 30+ years, in the same plaza we occupy today. The idea was simple and it has not changed: one centre, small enough that the director knows every child’s name, and broad enough that a family never has to leave when their child outgrows a room.
That is why we run 7 programs under one roof, from infants through Grade 6. Children arrive at nine months old and leave for junior high. One family wrote to tell us their son had been with us from 2016 until he turned twelve — that is the kind of continuity we are built for.
In 2026 we were approved to run Academic Pre-Kindergarten, our most structured program yet. It came from a question parents kept asking: will my child actually be ready for school? Now the answer is a scope, a sequence, and a written progress report.
We are licensed by Alberta, we work with childcare subsidy, and we have never been the cheapest option in Mill Woods. What we offer instead is a room your child settles into, staff who stay, and a straight answer whenever you ask one.

Warmth first
A child who feels safe will try things. Everything else — letters, numbers, friendships — is downstream of that. So the first job every morning is a genuine welcome.
Familiar faces
Educators who stay. Several of our team have been here for years, which is why a parent can say "the same ladies who had my first are teaching my third".
Real learning
Play-based, but not vague. Skills are taught deliberately and progress is written down, so you know exactly where your child is before they start school.
Hours that work
6:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday, plus full days on professional development days and school breaks. One arrangement instead of four.

We are in Millhurst Shopping Centre on 6013 Millwoods Road South, with parking at the door. Most of our families live or work within ten minutes.
