Preschool

Preschool 3 – 5 years

Preschool is where children discover they can do hard things. The room is organised into learning centres children choose for themselves, so a child who loves building spends real time building — and picks up counting, measuring, and negotiating while they do it. Educators plan around what the children are actually curious about that month.

What we focus on

Inside Preschool — what we actually do.

The handful of things this room is genuinely built around, rather than a list of everything a daycare could possibly claim.

1

Learning centres children choose

Blocks, dramatic play, art, science, writing, and a reading nook, all open at once. Choice builds the attention span that school will later demand.

2

Letters and sounds through play

Name recognition, rhyming games, letter hunts, and a writing centre with real paper and pencils. Print becomes something children want to use, not something they are drilled on.

3

Numbers you can hold

Counting collections, sorting buttons, measuring with blocks, and patterning with beads. Number sense grows out of handling real quantities.

4

Friendship is a taught skill

Joining a game, asking for a turn, saying sorry and meaning it. We coach these moments as deliberately as we coach letters.

5

Projects that follow the children

When a group gets obsessed with bugs, the room becomes about bugs — non-fiction books, magnifying glasses, drawings, and a trip outside to find some.

6

Getting ready to sit and listen

Group time gets gradually longer across the year so that a full kindergarten carpet session is not a shock in September.

A day in the life

What their day actually looks like.

A real schedule, in order. Times flex around the children rather than the other way round.

Very happy with the quality of the daycare! The staff are very friendly, professional and respecting covid guidelines. I feel this is a very good place to educate and prepare a toddler for kindergarten. Highly recommended.

Preschool questions

What families ask about this program.

If your question is not here, call the centre — you will speak to someone who knows this room.

Cannot find your question?

Call the centre and speak to a person who actually knows the rooms and what is available.

Is this a preschool or a daycare?

Both. It runs on full daycare hours, 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with a genuine planned preschool curriculum inside those hours. You do not have to choose between care and learning.

How is this different from Academic Pre-K?

Preschool is play-based and runs all day. Academic Pre-K is a focused, structured two-hour session with a smaller group and a school-readiness scope and sequence. Many families do both.

Do you offer part-time preschool spots?

Yes, subject to availability. Part-time is under 50 hours per month. Ask us what days currently have space.

Will my child be ready for kindergarten?

That is the goal, and we will tell you honestly where your child sits. Twice a year you get a written summary of what we are seeing and what we are working on.

Tell us your child's age and start date and we will tell you exactly what is available — including if the honest answer is a waitlist.
