Our kids absolutely love going to Ideal Daycare — they get excited every morning and come home happy with stories about their day. The staff is caring and professional.
Toddler Care
Toddler Care 19 months – 3 years
Toddlers are not small preschoolers. They need to climb, pour, dump, carry heavy things, and say no. Our toddler room is set up so all of that is allowed, which means far fewer battles and far more learning. Social skills, language, and self-help routines come out of the play, not out of a worksheet.

What we focus on
Inside Toddler Care
— what we actually do.
The handful of things this room is genuinely built around, rather than a list of everything a daycare could possibly claim.
Sensory play, every day
Sand, water, dough, paint, and loose parts. Messy play is how toddlers build the hand strength and focus they will need for a pencil later.
Language on repeat
Educators narrate, name, and expand all day long. Books, songs, and rhymes are built into transitions so the words keep coming even while shoes go on.
Potty learning, at your pace
We follow your lead and your timeline. No pressure, no shame, no sudden rule changes — just consistency between home and the centre.
Sharing, waiting, and repairing
Conflict is the curriculum at this age. We stay close, give the words, and help both children rather than simply separating them.
Real self-help routines
Hanging up a coat, washing hands, carrying a plate, pouring from a small jug. Toddlers are far more capable than we expect when the environment is set up for them.
Movement in every kind of weather
Edmonton winters do not stop us. Snow play, plaza walks, and gross motor games indoors keep the energy going year-round.
A day in the life
What their day
actually looks like.
A real schedule, in order. Times flex around the children rather than the other way round.

Toddler Care questions
What families ask
about this program.
If your question is not here, call the centre — you will speak to someone who knows this room.
Cannot find your question?
Call the centre and speak to a person who actually knows the rooms and what is available.
My toddler is not toilet trained. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Most children start in our toddler room in diapers. We follow your plan and keep it consistent between home and here.
What if my child bites or hits?
It is extremely common at this age and it is not a behaviour problem. We track when it happens, adjust the environment, teach the words, and talk with you about what we are seeing.
Do you go outside in winter?
Yes, whenever conditions are safe. Send snow pants, boots, mittens, and a warm hat, all labelled. On extreme-cold days we run gross motor activities indoors instead.
How do you handle nap time if my child does not nap?
Rest time is required by licensing but sleep is not. Non-sleepers get books and quiet activities on their cot for a shorter period, then join quiet play.
What comes next
Families usually look at
these too.
Children move up through our rooms as they grow, and many attend more than one program at once.
